5 Simple Ways to Improve Your YouTube Video Performance

#1 Set Watermark on Videos

Good branding helps to build reliability with your YouTube audience and amplifies awareness among users for your business.

You can communicate with your audience for conveying your brand message through a logo or an image.

If you are looking for strong YouTube branding, the watermark will add worth to it. The branding must emphasize the content on the channel.

Brand watermark can be added when you go to My Channel and click on Branding. A page opens where you find “add a watermark” option.

Rest of the actions is easy to perform.

#2 Use Directional sign to Catch Attention to Your CTA

We have always learnt to follows cues, arrows to move forward to look upon. This shows the strength of directional cues.

On YouTube, directional cues can include photos, arrows, and videos of people to your call-to-action (CTA) buttons. These cues entice the viewers for immediate response for your CTA.

#3 Keyword Addition to Titles, Descriptions & Tags would be Key

When I say add keywords to titles, descriptions and tags, then, my focus remains on searches.

If you have added keywords in a prominent way, then, the chances of keyword appearance in YouTube searches will be more.

Your videos may get viewed or watched again and again.

But at the same time, if it’s individual videos then, the descriptive and long-tail keyword would be very helpful. Also, try to add current trends to gather interest to your videos.

Once you find some appropriate keywords and phrases, get them incorporated in your title and description at the earliest.

Make a title that drives action and shows benefits of watching the video. For instance, you can encourage viewers to click on video by offering titles like “5 ways to….”, “How to repair”.

In the description, add links to your website or products. Make sure to add “https://” with your website links, so that it becomes clickable.

Addition of tags should be relevant or based on the importance of keyword or keyword phrases.

#4 Addition of Annotations and CTA Overlays

Using catchy annotations can drive viewers to watch more and more of your videos and finally become subscribers.

#Make an Annotation

Place of annotation addition is important. Data reveal that most YouTube viewers watch videos for a shorter period, so if the annotation is wrongly placed, they could easily move on.

Ideally, the best place for adding the video is at the end of the video.

Before adding an annotation, ensure you have turned on external linking. This takes place when you have verified YouTube account and your channel are recognized by YouTube.

For adding an annotation, go to the Video Manager, click on the drop-down arrow next to Edit and select Annotations.

Click Add Annotation and select the type of annotation you want to add. After filling the details, click on Apply Changes.

#Create a CTA Overlay

CTA overlays are adverts which you place on YouTube videos. For this, you need to have Google AdWords account and the overlays or ads are subject to review by Google AdWords program.

The ads can be seen at the bottom of the player when the video starts and remains open until the viewer closes the ads.

When users click on the ad, they are directed to another video or promotion. You can have only one such ad in a video.

To create CTA overlay or ads log into your AdWords account.

Make sure you have added your YouTube account to the AdWords account.

In case your account is not linked or added, click on the gear icon next to your name display on the right of the page and then click on Linked accounts and choose YouTube.

#5 Add Subtitles and Closed Captions

When a YouTube video includes captions and subtitles, it becomes able to reach a wider audience.

There are numerous ways to do this. Use YouTube’s automatic subtitles or closed captions (CC) feature, but you may not find desired results.

The other option is to make your own closed captions or subtitles within YouTube. There are tools to do this.

Whichever method you are choosing, go to the Video Manager, click on the drop-down arrow appearing next to Edit and select Subtitles and CC.

Select the most spoken video language in the video. Next, select how you want to go for adding or editing subtitles or closed captions.

Finally, follow the steps to finish the setup procedure.
