REACH OUT TO COMPANIES YOU ADMIRE WORKING FOR

hfj 1 When searching for a job as a fresher, don’t just settle for anything if you can’t find anything that suits your interests. Many people do the mistake of grabbing the first opportunity that crosses their path. Be wise. Think before you act. Find a profession that suits your interests, else some years down the line, you will feel struck in the wrong job.

FOCUS ON QUALITY, NOT QUANTITY

2
hfj 2 Of course, money makes the world go round. But, to earn that you have to be worthy enough. Being a fresher, never go for a company that is giving you a high pay package but there is no opportunity for growth. Find a job where you will learn new things and add expertise to your resume. Learn before you earn.

START BLOGGING

3

hfj 3 A blog may be referred to as an ‘online journal’ or ‘online diary’. Start writing content on a blog to show off your expertise. Promote your blog through various channels. If you don’t know anything about blogging, learn it. Now days, there are many ways by which you can earn money part time through blogging. TAP ONLINE JOB PORTALS

4

hfj 4 There is no better way to advertise your skills other than the Internet. There are many leading job portals on the Internet. Create your profile on those job portals and keep in touch with the latest updates and the employers who looked at your profile.

LOOK FOR INDUSTRIES WITH MAXIMUM JOB GROWTH

5
hfj 5 You are about to start your professional career. Don’t take chances, don’t just go for anything. Do a little research, find out which industry has the maximum proliferation and then assimilate the skills required for that particular industry. This is imperative in case you don’t want to be termed as a ‘Job Hopper’

WORK ON YOUR RESUME: YOU = (YOUR) CV

6
hfj 6 This simple, non-Einsteinish formula says that you are what your CV shows and tells who you are; after all, it is your personal sales brochure. No matter how good the service or product is, if it is presented in a bad light it will be considered of little value. It’s as simple as that.

WORK ON BUILDING YOUR NETWORK

7

hfj 7 With the advent of social media, networking has become a piece of cake! For professional purposes, build an account on LinkedIn and add qualified people to your network. Remember, LinkedIn is a professional platform and must be used for the same purpose. Try adding prospective employers to your connections and portray your professional profile. I won’t guarantee that this will get you a job but, it will certainly create a good impression.

FURNISH YOUR QUALIFICATION

8
hfj 8 Every third person in India is a Btech. or MBA resulting in high competency. If you don’t have an edge over others, probably, you are a face in the crowd! Give employers extra reasons to hire you. Learn about the various trends and short term courses in the market and upgrade your knowledge and add a feather to your curriculum vitae!

LEARN FREELANCING

9

hfj 9 With 151,598,994 internet users in India, freelancing projects are on the rise. Many people are making money on the Internet, part-time or full time. While you are hunting for jobs, learn how to do free lancing and pick up some freelancing projects that can help you gain experience and earn some money. Moreover, you can also tell your employer that you completed these projects while you were hunting for a job. Also, it will keep your morale high while you sitting idle looking for a job.

STAY POSITIVE!

10
hfj 10 Perhaps, this is the most important. Job hunting requires patience, perseverance and a positive attitude. It might happen that you be rejected many times before you finally land up somewhere. It is imperative that you be an optimist and continue your journey towards goal hunting.
