Facebook has introduced 6 new Facebook Live tools and features which will be helpful for publishers for creating authentic experiences.

The live video experience on Facebook has been enhanced with the introduction of new tools that will give publishers more flexibility and control over the broadcasts.

1) Go Live from the web

A new ability has been rolled out for going out live on Facebook via web browser to Pages. According to Facebook blog post, a variety of broadcast types — like daily vlogs — benefit from an easy, stable camera setup, and bringing Live to laptops and desktops will make this style of broadcasting easier.

2) Live Contributor for Pages

Initially, only Facebook Page admin could go live from Pages, but now they can allow specific people to go live on their behalf.

Now, Live contributors can directly start the broadcast whenever something noteworthy happens. So,   publishers do not have to give Facebook Page admin privileges.

3) Video Insights for Profiles

Facebook profiles with 5,000 or more followers will gain access to new option of video metrics for public videos (both live and uploaded videos).

These metrics will include:

  • Total Number of Views.
  • Total Number of Engagement (comments, reactions, shares).
  • Total minutes viewed.

They will also get aggregated insights for each and every video they have posted on over 7 to 30 or 60-day periods, which will include:

  • Total Views.
  • Total minutes viewed.
  • Total number of Profile followers.
  • Total number of video posts.

The feature will be available in the Mentions app in coming weeks.

4) Live Comment Pinning

Broadcasters can now pin comments to the bottom of a live broadcast. People comment more than 10 times on Facebook Live videos as compared to normal videos. With this updated feature, publishers will be able to personalize their broadcast and highlight particular comments for their viewers.

5) Video Permalink for Pages

Facebook is rolling out a permalink for videos. When the viewers visit your permalink, then they will be able to see the live video you are currently broadcasting. They will also be able to go through all your videos no matter live or non-live. For example, permalink will be facebook.com/pagename/videos.

6) Crossposting of Previously Live Videos

A series of crossposting features were released recently to help the publishers Reach wide range of audience across different pages. Now, the capabilities have been extended, after finishing the live broadcast you can post the video to multiple pages.

The announcement of these features was made on January 11, 2017. Some of the features have been already rolled out and few will be rolled out over the coming weeks.
