Google has announced three new discovery efforts for its Search product, including expanded featured snippets, improved functionality of knowledge panels, and enhanced suggested content.
According to Google’s The Keyword blog, a selection of featured snippets will now add more images and related search suggestions within the box displaying the featured snippet content.
It is also expanding the information displayed in the Knowledge Panel to comprise related content.
“For example, while looking at the Knowledge Panel about skiing, you’ll see related searches for sports such as snowboarding directly inside the result,” writes Google product manager, Michael Galvez.
For example, if a user searches “Neymar” followed by “Lionel Messi”, Google Search will recognize they’re searching for current soccer players, and will offer searches it says are “related to Neymar and Lionel Messi”.
