Google Rolls out Structured Data for Livestreams

Google in its recent updates notified that it is empowering publishers to markup livestreams with structured data.

Publishers will able to notify Google when their video is live as they have a combination of livestream data and the new Indexing API.

When a publisher will use livestream structured data, the videos will appear in Google search with a red “LIVE” badge.

The structured data can be integrated to following types of videos:
  • Sporting events
  • Awards shows
  • Influencer videos
  • Live streaming video games

Google’s Indexing API, an optional, but recommended resource will help you.

This API enables publishers to request their site is crawled at the time of livestream.

Google allows publishers to call the indexing API when the livestream starts and ends.
