YouTube is all set to remove the automatically video sharing abilities on Twitter after they have been published.

YouTube is going to take actions after January 31st, and the videos will no longer be auto-posted on Twitter.

Not only to Twitter, but YouTube videos also be no longer auto-posted on Google+.

YouTube notified the creators through about this feature that it will be taking off soon.

“We’re writing to let you know of an update that may impact you. After January 31st, the ability to automatically post YouTube activity (uploads, liked videos, etc.) on Twitter and Google+ will no longer be available.”

Most probably, this step is being taken to encourage more manual sharing.

YouTube says sharing links to YouTube videos is better rather than accompanying with a custom message.

“We’ve found that sharing these actions with a custom message (instead of through automatically generated posts) provides a better experience for the sharer and their followers on other social networks.”

The automatic sharing may be removed on January 31st, but manual sharing on Twitter will keep going on via the “Share” button.

Creators will also have an option to share to share on different social networks once they have successfully uploaded a new video.

How to perform above action

  • Go to YouTube Settings > Connected apps > “Share your public activity to Twitter”.

YouTube will also be removing the ability to add social media links to channel banners, but creators are still able to add a link to their Twitter profile.

How to do this?

Channel > About tab > Customize channel > Links.
