According to a recent study Twitter Inc’s messaging service is expected to have almost 400 million global users by 2018, mostly in Asia, Latin American and the Middle East.
While Twitter’s global user count is expected to reach just 386.9 million, user growth in Twitter’s key markets of the United States and Japan might decline to 6.4 and 6.1%, respectively by 2018, as per the estimations.
As declared by Twitter, the United States accounts for three-quarters of its revenue.

However, the study reveals that the social media giant has significant potential when it comes to the emerging markets and that the user growth is expected to speed up in Asian countries. In fact, India and Indonesia are all set to surpass the United Kingdom with the third- and fourth-largest Twitter populations this year. As per the study the social media network could see nearly 60% user growth in India this year.
The main reason behind Analysts considering Twitter’s reliance on developing countries a weakness is the far lower digital advertising prices in emerging markets.
