youtube Abbreviated Form 01

Currently, YouTube video creators having more than 1,000 subscribers can see the subscriber counts shown diversely in different places across YouTube desktop and mobile apps.

In a few cases, the subscriber count is abbreviated appears like 133k, whereas in other places, we see full count, 133,017.

To resolve this issue of displaying counts, YouTube will start the process in August 2019 and bring more consistency to every platform; the company will show the counts in an abbreviated manner.

Third parties using YouTube’s API Services will also access the similar public-facing counts you see on YouTube. Creators are still able to see their exact count of subscribers in YouTube Studio.

Creators with count up to 1,000 subscribers will see the number in the non-abbreviated form, whereas more than 1,000 subscribers will see in abbreviated form.

Here are a few examples:
  • If a channel has 50,227 subscribers, the public subscriber count will read “50.2k” until the channel reaches 51, 000.
  • If a channel has 135,199 subscribers, the public subscriber count will read “135K” until the channel reaches 136,000.
  • If a channel has 25,484,221, the public subscriber count will read “25M” until the channel reaches 26,000,000.
