#1 Create and Optimize Your Profile & Bio
Change your Instagram profile to make it look good, tell your prospective followers who you are, and give them a reason to follow you.
- First, start by making sure your username is noticeable and easily searchable.
- And, make sure your profile is always public. To make your profile public, open Instagram, open “Options,” and make sure “Private Account” is turned off.
- Next, choose a profile picture that matches with your other social networks, like your company logo.
- Then, fill your bio with amusing, actionable, and enlightening information about your brand.
- Last, add a link to your bio to make it easy for people to go directly from Instagram to your website if they want to.
#2 Be Creative & Relevant with Hashtagging
When it comes to Instagram caption ideas, you need to look away from the obvious hashtags. You want to use hashtags to tell part of your story. Be humorous, ironic, or outrageous–just don’t be BORING.
And, if you use related hashtags, your posts will catch exposure to a broader audience than the people who already follow you or know about your brand. To find the hashtags your audience might be using, do a little study on relevant hashtags in your niche or industry.
For example, when I search for #digitalmarketing on Instagram, it shows me relevant hashtags like #marketingstrategy #digitalagency #websites #branddevelopment, and so on.
And, use common hashtags that are known to help increase followers: #FF (Follow Friday), #instafollow, #l4l (Like for like), #tagforlikes and #followback.
#3 Post Amazing Content
The key to gaining more followers and likes on Instagram is posting truly remarkable content. For followers to like your post and double-tapping your photos, they need to be assured that you will be frequently engaging up high-quality photos and interesting captions.
#4 Cross-promotions on other platforms
Cross-promote your Instagram profile on your other social media profiles. Tell people what they can presume once they’re following you (e.g., behind-the-scenes photos, sneak glances, coupons, etc.)
Connecting social accounts to your Instagram profile lets you to easily syndicate your images. For example, you can post directly to Facebook/Twitter & other platforms when uploading any image to Instagram.
Instagram Stories & Live videos have been a huge sensation since August of last year. They’re fun, resourceful, and a great way to nurture meaningful connections with your audience.
Brands can also share on-the-fly, behind-the-scenes pieces for 24 hours that may not be as graceful as a published photo, but give your brand more personality on the platform.
Instagram also lets users share live videos, another satisfied format that’s proven to be immensely popular on other social networks. There is one thing unique about live videos on Instagram that they disappear when users stop filming.
This realistic, bi-directional experience lets brands share unexpected, raw moments with their audience to add in human features into a social media platform.
#6 Ask Questions
There’s no amended way to drive engagement is to ask questions.
If you want to increase likes from your followers, just ask a question in the captions of your photos, whether that’s for guidance or just about their lives. This is a great way to improve engagement.
Most posts are simply visual, so a post that encourages an action is more likely to attract a user’s attention when scanning over their Instagram feed.
#7 Run Instagram Contests
Running an Instagram contest is an exciting and easy way to promote your business on Instagram. It is also one of the easiest ways to gain exposure, which will help you get Instagram likes & followers.
You can ask people to follow your account and like or comment on the photo in order to enter the contest.
You can add a User-Generated Content part to the contest, too, where people post a photo of their own and use a specific hashtag along with following your account.
#8 Interact with Followers
Your followers want to know that there is an actual, living being behind the amazing photos on their feed. What better way to show them that you aren’t just an Instagram robot than by reaching out and appealing. It’s a great way to let them know that you appreciate their comments and their likes.
You can build a connection by identifying their talent and presence on Instagram in return for their appreciation of your photos.
#9 Find the Best Time to Post
Firstly, post great content regularly. Use the observation you have about your customers to help determine the best time for posting on Instagram.
The best times to post on Instagram were Mondays and Thursdays at any time except between 3:00–4:00 p.m. for the time zone of your target audience.
Instagram is mainly an app for use on mobile devices; users are likely to use the network all the time, anytime though many users engage with content more during off-work hours than during the workday.
Some brands have also seen success with posting at 2:00 a.m., 5:00 p.m., and Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. Experiment with these to see if they work with your audience.
#10 Measure and Analyze Your Instagram Results
If you’re not getting new Instagram likes & followers at the rate you want, go through your metrics and analytics on a regular basis can help you identify areas where you can potentially change your strategy.
For example, you may notice a connection between the time of day you post, positive hashtags, or the type of content, and a point in new followers. Try focusing on repeating these ticks to see if you get the same results.
